Jan 2010 - Snow snow snow

What a cold and snowy start to the New Year 2010 for all our Oxfordshire Homes.   The snow started at tea time on Tuesday 5 January and continued well into the next day leaving 30 – 40 cm of beautiful but disruptive snow!

The homes have all coped admirably with many staff walking miles to get to work and night staff staying on into the day to cover.   Their efforts have not gone unnoticed and Dan Hayes, County Director, and everyone at county office extends their thanks.   Dan has sent a thank you message to all the homes plus a huge tin of chocolates which should be arriving at each home over the next few days for staff to enjoy.   There have also been thank you messages from John Jackson, Director of Social and Community Services at Oxfordshire County Council.

Dedicated staff from St Edburg’s House in Bicester volunteered to stay overnight to ensure the home would be fully staffed the following day.    Pictured left are Kerrie Savage, Care Assistant, Alice Churchill, Care Leader, Andrea Woods, Manager and Angela Brimacombe Care Leader.   Unfortunately Alice forgot her pyjamas so had to wear a halloween outfit!   There are some other lovely news features about the snow on the homes website news – see Marston Court and Madley Park House.

The team at county office also did well to get into work, some from as far as Aylesbury.   Left are Gary Warren, Area Operations Manager and Cristina Pashmi, Training Manager clearing the snow from the pathways in the garden at Marston Court/County Office.
