OSJCT Carer and Resident - Personal DevelopmentOSJCT believes that staff training enables personal development and achievement of individual potential, therefore ensuring that the highest standards of care delivery are accomplished. This is also shown in our commitment to the Investors in People standards.

From day one of your employment with the Trust we are committed to help you achieve your goals and fulfil your expectations. We deliver this through:

Induction

The starting point for your development. This programme will help you through your first few weeks in employment and provide you with the understanding of your job, the Trust and the needs of our Residents.

E-Learning

This is a simple computer-based training programme used by the Trust to complement the basic induction standards. The system allows staff to work at their own pace and develop their understanding on areas that will assist them for their future employment with the Trust.

Training

A training plan will be prepared at your induction for all your mandatory training needs, such as Fire Procedures and Manual Handling. OSJCT understands the requirement for Continuous Professional Development for nurses.  Please click here for more details on Continuous Professional Development.

Personal Development Reviews (PDR)

These are an opportunity for you and your Manager to discuss your development and they are designed to help you manage your own performance. Staff based within the homes will also have bi-monthly supervisions which are aimed at developing and supporting staff and maintaining high standards of care.

National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)

The Trust is 100% motivated towards linking training and development to recognised qualifications such as NVQ’s. These are available in areas such as Health and Social Care, Food Processing and Cooking, and Housekeeping.
