Admin Assistant

Location: Orchard House, Bishops Cleeve

Salary: £8.35 per hour (+0.30 per hour QCF)

Hours of work: 30 Hours per week to include weekend work

The Orders of St John Care Trust is the 2nd largest not for profit care provider in the UK specialising in providing high quality, person centred care for older people, in care homes and extra care housing. As a charity we ensure that any revenue goes straight back into our homes meaning our residents and staff are well looked after.

We are currently looking to recruit an Admin Assistant to join our team!

As an Administration Assistant you will support the Home Manager and other Senior Colleagues in a full range of administration activities to assist in the running of the home. You will often be the first point of contact for enquiries and act as front of house greeting and helping visitors in the home. You will help direct deliveries and supporting other employees with enquiries such as payroll and new starter paperwork.

As part of this admin role you will also be responsible for co-ordinating the training for the home, this means booking all mandatory and non-mandatory training for carers/nurses/housekeepers and all other employees. You will need to be highly organised and able to identify when training is due to expire in order to keep the homes training up to date.

You will be an integral part of the home and you will get to know everybody including residents, their families, employees, local GP’s, district nurses, volunteers, Trust and other external visitors. As an Administration Assistant you will need to be efficient and organised and have the ability to keep calm when things get a little hectic!

The home



Orchard House accommodates 50 residents, some of whom have complex nursing needs. The home is located within the heart of Bishops Cleeve and the nearby Cheltenham town can be accessed easily by bus. You will be joining an established team of nurses, carers and ancillary employees, some of whom have worked with us for 10 years or more. The team itself is supplemented by a group of volunteers who are very actively involved in delivering support to residents. You will enjoy the homely atmosphere of Orchard House where we promote friendly interactions between residents and employees.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE:

For this role you must:

  • Have a GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths (Grades A-C)
  • 1/2 years admin experience
  • Be IT Literate in Microsoft Office programmes.
  • Be able to work independently and priorities own work load.
  • Have a caring and calm approach to our residents and their relatives.
