On Friday 28th June Grace Care Centre in South Gloucester opened their doors for Care Home Open Day.
The day started by welcoming friends and family members as well as our local community to our home. It has finally arrived;
Our Garden was beautifully transformed with the help of the whole entire team as well as our Residents pitching some great advice to help with the set up during the week.
Home Manager, Peter Moore started the event by welcoming and thanking everyone for coming to enjoy the sun and our first Grace-Stock event.
The First act is near enough always the hardest.
None the less, Carer Kevin Beardshaw did himself and Grace Care Centre proud with his act to warm the crowd; which was very well received and some great puns and one liners!
Following the comedy, people were treated to some amazing singing from various acts including –
Peter Moore & friends
Grace Care Centre ‘House Band’
Yate Ukelele Players
Arabella Belly Dancer
Ukelele Jam Thornbury
Lee McCrow & Ben George
With every great festival there must be some great options for food!
Grace Care Centre Head Chef; Constantine Negrut was on hand all day with his trusted Barbecue set up to take orders.
With extra Gazebos and Hay Bales available for everyone to enjoy, these were a brilliant option for people to use and enjoy the days entertainment. We were very happy to have some residents attend from local Care homes we would like to say thank you for showing your support as we move to work together in the upcoming months.
Residents were happy to have a visit from an active RAF pilot, he had very kindly (despite the heat) came in his full uniform and spent a lot of the time talking to a few of our ex-service men.
The activities team had been working hard with residents all week prior to the event to create, paint and set up a few Festival type games such as;
Hook a duck
Bean Bag Clown Face Throw
A Craft Stall
An Ice Cream Stand
“I was so happy to see so many people through out the day, enjoying the festival, games and food. We are blessed with great support from family members, neighbours and our community. Thank you for everyone’s support”.
– Peter Moore, Home Manager
Music is a very Powerful ‘tool’, and we are very touched that our first Grace-Stock event was a success, we are looking forward already to next year’s Grace-Stock.
Who knows maybe Sir David Attenborourgh will make an appearance. (maybe not!)
