NAPA (National Activity Providers Association) Gala – 23 September 2015

Ridgeway House were fortunate enough to win a competition in the summer edition of the NAPA Living Life magazine.  The prize was four tickets to the NAPA Gala which was held at the London Irish Centre in Camden Square, London.  Andrea Wright, the homes Activities Coordinator, offered the tickets to two gentleman residents, Ted Curtis and James Aplin, who had both lived in London for a time.  I was delighted to be asked to accompany them on their excursion into the capital.

The journey into London brought back many memories for both Ted and James, so much had changed since they lived in and around the capital.  On arrival we enjoyed lunched at a friendly road-side café situated on the Camden Road before making our way to the London Irish Centre for the Gala.

The highlight of the afternoon was definitely when Pam Rhodes, of Songs of Praise fame and a NAPA Ambassador, joined us at our table for a chat.  She was thrilled to hear that we were from Royal Wootton Bassett, and recalled a Songs of Praise show that she hosted there.

NAPA organises a National Challenge for care settings every year offering prizes for the best participants in a themed event.  The challenge this year had the theme of Fine Dining.  The winners are presented with their awards at The NAPA Gala.
