The Lakes Care Centre in South Cerney be opening their doors on Friday 28th June for Care Home Open Day.

The doors will be open to the local community from 10am – 4pm and visitors will be welcome to join in any activities. This year the theme for Care Home Open Day is celebrating the role of arts in care with a few key values at its heart: friendship, making connections and celebrating older and vulnerable people.

The Lakes Care Centre will hold their ever-popular coffee morning at 10am and the children from Cricklade Manor will be joining them for tea and cake. Residents are always delighted to see the children!

The home will be having a drop-in session with Nikki Rowe, OSJCT’s Admiral Nurse (dementia specialist nurse) from 10:30am – 12pm. Nikki will be on hand to answer any questions people may have about dementia and she can also offer practical advice and explain what services are available locally.

Café Society is a local group that runs coffee mornings and social meet ups for people living in the local community. They will be in the home throughout the day with various members of the group.

In the afternoon we will be welcoming the ‘Wild Woolly Women’ who will be running a wool spinning workshop, everyone will be welcome to try their hand at felting, or just watch the professionals do their work!
