Residents from The Lakes Care Centre in South Cerney enjoyed seeing a variety of planes.

The ex-Royal Air Force base was a fantastic destination for all, the residents enjoyed the very scenic drive too. The weather was sunny which made for a perfect day for a beautiful Cotswolds drive and a day at the air base.

The airport was an exciting new destination for everyone and it had been recently refurbished and re-opened. Residents enjoyed watching the planes go by whilst enjoying some delicious cake and even a gin! Everyone had a great window view and enjoyed watching all the small planes and helicopters taking off, landing and doing their training.

The café had airplane seats, propellers and photos of famous visitors which gave the residents lots to chat about and reminisce with one another. This trip was in conjunction with Oomph who drive the residents on their trips and enjoy spending time with the residents when out and about.

Chloe, The Lakes Care Centre’s activity co-ordinator said – “It was a really interesting trip to an old RAF base. We saw planes and helicopters taking off and enjoyed delicious tea, cake and gin in the restaurant!”
