Wiltshire Volunteer Appreciation Event 2016

The hard work, support and service recognition of our homes volunteers throughout the county was celebrated at our annual Volunteer Appreciation Event held on Wednesday 5 October 2016. Although not all our volunteers were able to attend the event due to other commitments, we were delighted that 30 volunteers did join us at the Beechfield Hotel in Melksham, which saw many of them receiving certificates and awards for their ongoing dedication and support of our homes. We always look forward to this event each year because it’s the perfect opportunity to officially thank our amazing Volunteers for all the time and effort they spend enriching our residents’ day-to-day lives.

As part of the day, OSJCT’s Trustee for Wiltshire Judy Wright and Sara Wright, HR Director attended the event. Judy Wright presented the service awards to our volunteers and also said a few words about the history of the organisation. Sara Wright performed the closing address thanking all our Volunteers for giving their precious time to support our home communities.

Among those receiving service awards on the day was Anne Sillars – a 30-year volunteer from Athelstan House Day Care Centre in Malmesbury, where she helps out in a variety of ways, including chatting to residents and serving meals and drinks. Other volunteers recognised during the ceremony included Anne Price, who has been volunteering at Ridgeway House in Royal Wootton Bassett for the last 25 years, and Barbara Compton, who has also volunteered for 25 years at Ridgeway House, helping with trips and outings.
