Windsor Castle Excursions

Early January can sometimes be a bit grim after the Christmas and New Year festivities, so we organised a couple of trips to Windsor Castle on 4 and 5 January to combat the January blues!

Thirty-eight residents and thirty team members and volunteers from eight of our Wiltshire homes took part enjoying all the wonders of Windsor Castle, the family home to British kings and queens for over 1,000 years.  There was almost too much to see, as getting around the castle took time, but the majority of us enjoyed the magnificent State Apartments, Queen Mary’s Doll House and St Georges Chapel. Some of us even got to see the changing of the guard. However, the highlight for many of us was the Fashioning a Reign exhibition, 90 years of style from the Queens wardrobe, how fabulous to see the Queen's dresses up close.   Another treat was seeing the Christmas decorations which were still up around the castle.

The Castle staff were magnificent, and couldn’t do enough for us, in fact we felt like royalty ourselves.
