Meet the team

The talented chef and kitchen team prepare tasty, home-cooked meals on site daily from our own kitchens. We source quality produce for our excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. All-day dining is available for lighter meals and snacks and all dishes are carefully balanced to get the best nutritional value and cater for individual dietary requirements and preferences.

Seasonal produce is chosen whenever possible and of course, relatives and friends are always welcome to join us. The menus change daily, and the kettle is always on. Our chef bakes every day so there is always a fresh cake to enjoy.

Residents are also encouraged to help prepare their own food and to make snacks whenever they choose.

Meet the team

Home Manager

Helen started her care career in 2001. She joined OSJCT Watersmead in 2011 as a carer and worked her way through many different roles. In April 2017 she was appointed Head of Care at OSJCT Brookside in Melksham and then she returned to Watersmead, where she became Home Manager, in July 2018.

Helen is extremely passionate about creating a wonderful home for her residents and championing person-centred care. “This is what I want to pass onto the team to support and develop them all to be the very best they can be”, Helen says.

Over the years Helen has completed her QCF level 2 and 3 in health and social care and she is currently working through her Level 5.

In her spare time, Helen loves spending time with her family. She has three amazing children along with Jasper, her long-haired dachshund, who she takes everywhere at the weekends. She also enjoys keeping fit with regular Zumba sessions and swimming.

Helen has so many special memories of Watersmead but having an Elvis impersonator join the Christmas party was definitely a highlight. The residents chose to have Elvis perform at the home and for her to see everyone dancing and singing and the joy it bought them was a truly wonderful experience for her.

Activity Coordinator

Katie worked with the Trust for two years before taking a break and returning at the end of 2023. She has looked after adults with autism, but returned to Watersmead to care and take on the activities role.

Katie loves the personal side of her job and getting to know each individual, making people’s day, and making people smile. She is enjoying the opportunity of trying exciting and engaging activities with residents.

Outside work, Katie loves to watch films and TV, and socialising with friends.

Head Chef

Sally has been in the catering industry for 38 years and joined Watersmead 11 years ago, initially as a cook, before becomming Head Chef 4 years ago. Sally gained her 706/1 and 706/2 many years ago and she holds a wealth of other qualifications centring around the catering industry.

Sally runs the fantastic kitchen team and provides the residents with excellent meals as well as catering for all major events within the home. Sally was nominated for Wiltshire's 'Hospitality of the Year Award' twice and won on both occasions. Sally was also a regional winner in the Great British Care Awards and became a national finalist.

Her best memory of the home is when residents cooked a meal for her supported by the activity coordinator. It was lovely for her to sit with a few residents and enjoy the meal they had prepared.

In her spare time, Sally enjoys arts and crafts, gardening and growing her own vegetables. She also loves spending time with her family.

Head of Care

Biddy has worked in care since 1999 and with the Trust since 2019. This is her second time with the Trust having previously worked at Fives Court before it closed. She worked with another care provider before returning to the Trust.

Biddy loves to create a nice environment for residents and ensure they receive the best care possible. She enjoys supporting colleagues to develop to their full potential.

In her space time, Biddy loves to spend time with her family, and enjoys a nice walk.

Admin Assistant

Nic has been with the Trust since 2017 having worked in various personnel and office support roles previously. She enjoys the variety in her work, and likes the interaction with residents and their families. Nic says that with the feeling of family at Watersmead, it doesn’t feel like she’s coming to work.

When she’s not at work, Nic likes to go to the cinema, walk her dog, and socialise with friends and family.

Head Housekeeper

Teresa has been in her current role since 2010 having previously worked as a civil engineer. She worked in various roles in the evenings while she raised her family, and then joined the Trust as her children grew up.

Teresa says that interacting with residents is the best part of her job, and they really do make her day. Out of work, Teresa likes to spend time with her family and friends. She believes that working in care brings home how important family is.
