Sally Reynolds, a Chef at Watersmead care home in Westbury, received the Order of Malta Bronze Medal of Merit at the St John’s Day mass at the Brompton Oratory on Friday 23 June. She received her medal for her dedication to her job, for running an excellent kitchen team and maintaining a five-star hygiene rating for many years.
Sally originally joined OSJCT over 25 years ago and left to have her family. She returned in 2008 and has worked at Watersmead ever since.
Sally attended the Order of Malta ceremony with Watersmead Home Manager, Helen Shepherd. Sally said: “I am really honoured to receive this medal. I was very glad that I attended the ceremony at the Brompton Oratory, it was a really lovely experience.
“Working at Watersmead for the last 15 years has been an absolute pleasure. Thanks to the staff and residents alike the home has a lovely family atmosphere. I want to credit everyone I work with, as I wouldn’t be receiving this award without their encouragement and support.”
Speaking about the St John’s Day mass and medal ceremony, Helen said: “This event is magnificent, and it’s really special to come to.
Helen continued: “Sally is amazing, and the food she creates is so wonderful. She regularly comes to resident meetings, to get feedback on her menus as well as individual residents’ requirements. For example, she works closely with our Head of Care, to support residents with tailored meals to improve their physical wellbeing.
“Sally is absolutely dedicated to the residents, as well as the team, last year she stepped in to cover another vacancy in the kitchen. She deserves this prestigious recognition for all that she has done.”
Ten OSJCT employees received Order of Malta Medals of Merit in 2023. The Order of Malta is one of OSJCT’s two sponsoring orders.
