The team at Fremantle Court is taking on a 100-mile fundraising challenge to support people living with dementia and their families.

Colleagues at Fremantle Court are going the extra mile this November for people living with dementia, taking on a 100-mile challenge to raise funds for Dementia UK, The Orders of St John Care Trust’s (OSJCT) charity partner of the year.

For the team, supporting people living with dementia is closely connected to the care they provide every day. Understanding each resident as an individual, recognising what matters to them and supporting their families are central to creating a home where people feel safe, valued and understood.

The funds raised will support Dementia UK’s work providing specialist advice and guidance through its Admiral Nurses. These specialist dementia nurses help people living with dementia, their families and carers navigate challenges and access the right support when they need it.

Although there are currently 483 contracted Admiral Nurses working across the UK, specialist dementia nursing within care homes remains limited. Just 20 Admiral Nurses have a primary focus on supporting people living with dementia in care home settings, 5 of whom work for OSJCT.

This makes OSJCT one of only 11 care providers in the UK to have developed a dedicated Admiral Nurse team, highlighting the importance of specialist support for residents, their families and care colleagues.

By taking on the 100-mile challenge, Fremantle Court colleagues are supporting a cause that matters to their work and the people they care for. Their efforts reflect a commitment to making a difference beyond their everyday responsibilities and helping more families access the support they need.

The core team leading this challenge includes: Deputy Manager, Vivian Oscar; Activity Co-ordinators, Toni Vipan and Ben Greenwood alongside Faida Truter from our regional team.
