Charitable Status

charitable-status

OSJCT is a not for profit charitable Trust. Importantly, this means any financial surplus we make is reinvested for the benefit of our residents. We don’t have shareholders and don’t pay out dividends to outside stakeholders.

Everything we do as an organisation must fall within our charitable objects.

Our primary charitable object, is ‘the relief of the aged, the infirm and the sick’. We achieve this by providing care for older people in extra care housing schemes (independent living) housing schemes and, predominantly, in care homes specialising in nursing, dementia and residential care. We also offer intermediate, respite and day care.

This object is underpinned by the Christian principles and ethos of our two sponsoring Orders (the Order of Malta and the Venerable Order of St John), on the same basis that those Orders operate – caring for people of any background, irrespective of race or religion.
