Care and Support

Care is at the very heart of everything we do. Working in one of our care or support roles you will be continuing our history of caring that we have been doing for almost a thousand years and you will be doing this at the forefront of the service we provide to our residents.

Each of the available roles will provide you with the opportunity of helping our residents to enjoy their lives to the full, through respect, dedication, empowerment and dignity.

Here is a summary of the roles available to you:

  • Care Lead – As a key member of the care team you will be responsible for leading, managing and supporting your colleagues. You will make sure they are delivering high quality care and service to our residents at all times. You will play a crucial part in care delivery in the home, making sure care plans are regularly reviewed through on-going assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. You will actively engage with residents to understand their lifestyle choices in a way that values them as individuals and respects their dignity and differing preferences.
  • Domiciliary Team Leader – You will provide direct supervision of the care team and support to the housing and care manager with the administration of the service. Some of your key duties will include managing rotas and care visits, supervising a team of domiciliary carers, maintaining the electronic systems of care, auditing and reviewing care plans, and assisting with housing management.
  • Chef / Cook – You will be directly involved in meeting the dietary needs of our residents and ensure that everyone receives a high quality dining experience. You will take account of the individual needs of residents and accommodate them to match their care plans and personal preferences. To do this effectively, you will get to know the residents and build relationships with them and their families.

  • Kitchen Assistant – You will be supporting our chef / cook by helping to prepare meals, snacks and drinks for our residents. It will be important for you to get to know the residents and understand their likes and dislikes to make sure that they fully enjoy their dining experience.
  • Handy Person – As one of our dedicated maintenance colleagues you will ensure that our care homes are well-maintained, well-presented, safe and secure. You will show pride in the upkeep of the building and surrounding gardens of the home in which you work. As a key member of our team, it will be important for you to get to know our residents and their families and, where appropriate, let them get involved in helping you to maintain their home.

  • Housekeeper – This role is absolutely critical as we negotiate our way through the current pandemic. Your dedication will be key in securing the health and safety of the residents and colleagues in your care home. You will be responsible for and take pride in maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of the home to the highest standard; this may also involve helping with the laundry. You will support colleagues in welcoming residents and their family and friends to the home. You will get to know residents well and understand their preferences for their personal spaces, recognising that they may wish to help you in your daily tasks.

  • Administrator – As an administrator based in one of our care homes you will be key in supporting the home manager with a full range of activities to assist in the day-to-day smooth running of the home. You will usually be the first point of contact for a wide range of people, including residents, their families, external visitors such as GPs, district nurses and other health professionals, as well as our volunteers and colleagues. As the ‘face’ of the home to the outside world, it is important that you enjoy your role as ambassador for us at all times.
  • Activities Co-ordinator – It is crucial that our residents have the opportunity to take part in activities that help to preserve or increase their health and mental well- being. You will make this happen by planning stimulating and challenging activities designed to encourage the dignity, independence and satisfaction of all our residents. You will get to know our residents and tailor the activities programme around their individual needs and preferences.
  • Bursar – Our bursars work closely with our home managers in managing the home budgets to make sure our homes run smoothly, and so maintain the well-being of our residents. You will have direct access to our residents and support them with the day-to-day management of their finances, meeting our residents' needs with sensitivity and confidentiality.
