ABBA day at Grevill House
Grevill House in Cheltenham had a day dedicated to the 70’s band ABBA
The day began with residents learning about the story of the band ABBA who released hits throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s and even won the Eurovision song contest in 1974. During the band's main active years, it was composed of two married couples: Fältskog and Ulvaeus, and Lyngstad and Andersson but with the increase of their popularity, their personal lives suffered which eventually resulted in the collapse of both marriages.
In 1999, ABBA's music was adapted into the successful musical ‘Mamma Mia’ which toured all over the world and was made into a film with an all-star cast.
Residents at Grevill House then made ABBA flags which they all proudly waved during the performance from ABBA Stars UK, the UK’s number 1 tribute band.
ABBA Stars UK sang all ABBA’s hits and the residents sang along and got up to dance. Residents were waving the flags they had made in the morning and dancing with their inflatable guitars. ABBA Stars UK ensured they went around to all the residents to sing and interact with them. The ABBA fun day welcomed residents from OSJCT Windsor Street too who came over to join in and watch the performance.
The team at Grevill House dressed up in ABBA style clothes and everyone got into the spirit! A great day was had by all and Grevill House will be putting on more themed days throughout the year.
