Activities Coordinator at Bicester care home hailed as a Shining Star in Trust Awards
OSJCT Shining Stars Employee Awards
Beverley Cotton from Langford View care home in Bicester has been selected as a winner in The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) Oxfordshire Shining Stars Employee Awards 2020. The Trust, which employs over 5,200 staff across its homes and offices, selected 48 winners from a shortlist of 129 finalists.
Beverley has been awarded OSJCT Oxfordshire Activities Coordinator of the Year 2020. She was nominated by colleagues and a resident’s family member for her dedication and enthusiasm. Among her many initiatives Beverley has introduced a knitting club, a group for male residents called The Journeymen and coordinated fundraising for a Magic Table for the home.
Beverley said: “I was so excited and proud to learn that I had been nominated as Activity Coordinator of the Year, and I was overwhelmed to win this amazing award. I am fortunate to have volunteers who supported with the Journey Men’s Club. CEO Dan Hayes even joined us for a meeting as well.
“I work hard to ensure that our residents have the best quality of life that they possibly can, and I get to know them individually, which helps when planning activities.
“I would like to thank everybody who nominated me for the award, thank you very much for choosing me as your winner.”
Patsy Just, Area Operations Director, Oxfordshire, and a member of the judging panel, said: “I would like to thank Beverley for her wonderful contribution and congratulate her on winning this award. It is so important to celebrate and recognise the wonderful achievements of colleagues from across Oxfordshire, each and everyone have gone out of their way to improve the lives of those living in our homes. We absolutely appreciate and value their contribution.”
