Spencer Court receives flowers for flower ranging task to help Alice get her pony

There’s nothing quite like a little kindness to brighten someone’s day, and residents at Spencer Court Care Home have been enjoying plenty of it thanks to a very special young visitor, Alice.

Nine-year-old Alice, the budding entrepreneur behind Alice’s Dahlia Den, has been spreading happiness in the local community through her love of flowers and a wonderful idea that is helping her turn a childhood dream into reality.

Alice started her own flower business with an ambition to raise £5,000 towards buying her very own pony. But her venture is about much more than fundraising. Whenever someone buys a bunch of flowers from Alice, she carefully picks and arranges them before gifting them to a local care home, sharing a little happiness with others along the way.
Spencer Court has been lucky enough to receive some of Alice’s beautiful flowers, and in September, residents had the pleasure of meeting her in person.

During her visit, Alice joined residents for a lovely afternoon of flower arranging. Together, they potted the colourful blooms into jam jars, creating pretty displays to brighten up the home. There was plenty of conversation, laughter and smiles as everyone got involved.
It was a wonderful opportunity for residents to spend time with Alice, hear about her business and learn more about the special dream behind it. Her enthusiasm and thoughtfulness certainly made an impression, and the afternoon created some lovely memories for everyone involved.

Jim, a resident at Spencer Court, said: “I really enjoyed spending time with Alice and helping to put the flowers into the jars. They looked lovely, and it was nice to hear all about her plans to buy a pony. She is a very lovely young girl, and I think what she is doing is wonderful. I hope she has lots of fun with her new pony!”

Angela Champ, Home Manager at Spencer Court, added: “It has been an absolute pleasure welcoming Alice to Spencer Court. What she is doing is so thoughtful, and it has been lovely to see the happiness her flowers have brought to our residents and staff. Meeting Alice and hearing about her dream of owning a pony made the afternoon even more special. We wish her all the very best and are so excited that she is now able to make her dream come true.”

And there is even more reason to celebrate, as Alice has now reached her goal and has brought her very own pony. We look forward to welcoming Alice back and possibly her pony too – watch this space…
