Alzheimer’s awareness at Lake House
World Alzheimer’s Month is an international campaign which runs every September to raise awareness of dementia and to challenge the stigma that surrounds the disease. This cause is close to the hearts care home residents and their relatives, and is a priority for Lake House Care Home and Day Centre in Adderbury.
The team at Lake House joined together for a special socially-distanced coffee morning on Friday 25 September to reflect on the care they provide on a daily basis to people living with dementia.
Lake House Home Manager, Alex Grindle, said: “We have seen first-hand how lonely and isolating it can be to receive a diagnosis of any form of dementia. We are so lucky that OSJCT employs its own specialist dementia Admiral Nurses, who support people living with dementia and their loved ones through their diagnosis.
“Our coffee morning was for our care team to take a moment to reflect on the amazing work they do every day for people living with dementia. We hope that by drawing attention to key issues like this we can help others find the help and advice they need.”
