American Independence Day at Jubilee Lodge
Jubilee Lodge in Bourton on the Water had 4th July celebrations with their residents.
Independence Day or 4th of July celebrations goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution. On July 2nd, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favour of independence, and two days later delegates from the 13 colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence, a historic document drafted by Thomas Jefferson.
Our residents loved being part of 4th of July celebration and the home had an American themed menu with hot dogs for tea and American ice cream soda milkshakes. The team ordered some American chocolate and candy for the residents to try too.
The activities were also themed around Independence Day with residents painting red, white and blue stars and they took part in an American themed quiz.
Joey, Activities Co-ordinator said, “we loved to celebrate special days from all over the world and we all enjoy learning about different cultures and traditions”.
