Amy, a carer at The Lakes Care Centre hailed a Shining Star in Trust Awards 2021
Amy Stevens was lucky enough to be a finalist in this year’s 'Young carer of the year' category.
Amy has been a Carer at The Lakes since just after it opened. She has worked compassionately with residents and built relationships with them. Amy is such a dedicated, calm, positive member of the care home and her energy bounces onto residents and other team members whenever she is in. She goes to work every day with the intention to do the best she possibly can and doesn’t crack under the pressure of an ever-changing environment.
Amy was presented with her certificate by their Head of Dementia, Sam. The home had a lovely card for Amy plus a beautiful bouquet of flowers and some chocolates.
Everyone raised a glass of non-alcoholic fizz to Amy, their very own superstar.
Everyone enjoyed a delicious cake which had been made by the kitchen team and the afternoon was spent with the residents streaming the award ceremony in the lounge.
The residents watched the award ceremony, drank, ate cake, sang, danced and played with the balloons. It was an amazing day to celebrate an amazing member of staff.
Chief Executive, Dan Hayes, praised all the winners and said:
“Congratulations to all our winners and finalists, whether they have been recognised for their professionalism or for their long service or qualifications. These awards take place so that the Trust can show our gratitude to colleagues who together provide an essential service to our communities. And this year more than any other, our gratitude will be echoed by a whole nation who now appreciate what they do and stand in unanimous appreciation for their bravery and commitment. This moment is a good one to reflect on where we might be without the tremendous social care workers that we are recognising today.”
