Apple Trees Residents Take Part in 'Random Acts of Kindness Day'
On Random Acts of Kindness Day, Apple Trees Care home was filled with the scent of fresh flowers and a shared sense of purpose. Residents came together with a simple but heartfelt idea, to brighten the day of those who care for our community.
The dining room quickly transformed into a florist’s workshop, with bunches of colourful blooms laid out on the tables as residents carefully selected stems, trimmed them to size, and tied each bouquet with ribbon. There was gentle concentration, plenty of laughter, and proud smiles as every arrangement took shape. These beautiful bunches, along with boxes of cupcakes, were prepared for our local fire service, paramedics, and nearby shop workers, just a small token of appreciation for the dedication they show every day.
When the flowers were delivered, the gratitude was clear. But the greatest impact was felt within our own walls. One resident quietly shared, “It feels good to give something back.” That sense of contribution, of still playing an active role in the community, is so important.
We believe independence isn’t about doing everything alone, it’s about having the opportunity to continue doing what matters. Whether arranging flowers, leading an activity, or supporting a local cause, our residents are encouraged to use their skills, make choices, and stay connected to the local community.
Because here at Apple Trees Care and Reablement Centre, care is not just about support, it’s about living with purpose, pride, and belonging.
