Art class with Cirencester College
Residents from Paternoster House and students from Cirencester College have come together to work on a project to bring residents from OSJCT Paternoster House together with students and their tutor Sadie from the college for some mosaic workshops.
Sadie, from Cirencester College is running the five-week Mosaic class via a Zoom video call and will be continuing the session with five weeks of watercolours too.
The residents have really enjoyed the sessions and always look forward to seeing Sadie on the call and learning new skills. Several studies show that art can improve well-being and even reduce the depression and anxiety that are often symptomatic of chronic diseases.
Sadie Rowlands said, “It was a joy to be teaching mosaics again, even though we had to do the workshop over Zoom, which caused some fun and games. The mosaics they produced were fantastic and it was a wonderful experience”.
Sharon Dewsbury Activities Coordinator at Paternoster House said, “Our residents loved being involved in this workshop, many of the residents have never made mosaics before and are very much looking forward to working with watercolours too”.
