Athelstan summer fete
Athelstan's annual summer fete was a fun-filled afternoon for residents, friends and family alike.
This year’s summer fete was a huge success – even the weather was kind! Everyone enjoyed themselves and the afternoon’s activities raised the princely sum of £600 for the home.
Gail, one of the Activities team and Diane White, a relative, were the driving force behind this year’s Family Fun Afternoon – and with the help of Mary and her family, Dorothy and her daughter Lynn, as well as all of our wonderful volunteers who were able to come and lend a hand.
We had the ever-popular raffle and tombola with prizes donated from residents, friends and family. A special mention to thank Nurden’s Garden Centre, Matthews, Waitrose and A4 Stationery for providing raffle prizes. We had a white elephant stand as well as a cake stall and several art and craft stalls. One resident’s Great Granddaughter ran a glitter tattoo stand and Murial kindly donated the necklaces she beaded for us to sell.
The Knit and Natter Group knitted a teddy for ‘Guess the name of the Royal Person’ and the ‘Highgrove Bear’ was a donation too from a relative for the ‘Guess the name of Archie’s bear’ competition.
And throughout the afternoon, Brian Slade provided the wonderful entertainment!
