Both Avon Court and Bourne House are rated Good by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and, keen to maintain and build on their official inspections, work is ongoing as the teams strive for ever-better care for their residents. 

Each of the homes at the Orders of St John Care Trust undergoes internal auditing every year as part of the continuous improvement work.  They are rigorous assessments that really put home teams and their processes to the test. In recent weeks, both Avon Court and Bourne House have been audited on Health and Safety, and both scored 100% across the board, with no actions to follow up on. This is the second consecutive perfect score for Avon Court, and an improvement for Bourne House.

The health and safety of all our residents is paramount across the Trust and these latest internal scores show just how well the teams at Avonbourne Care Centre are achieving the very best.

The CQC report for Avon Court noted that the home’s record-keeping and processes were good, and that relatives felt people were safe and cared for. The report stated that, “People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice.” Since then, home manager Jenny Rafemoyo has built on that choice and control, and the latest internal audit scores reflect the high standards of care residents receive at the home.

Bourne House was also rated good overall, including good on Safety, with CQC inspectors noting that there were good systems in place to manage any risks people faced, and help keep them safe. The report noted that “There were good infection prevention and control procedures” throughout the home, and home manager Kamila Bevan has been strengthening those, as indicated by the internal Health and Safety audit.
