Making the most of the beautiful surroundings, residents spent time in the garden enjoying the fresh air and gathering flowers, rose hips and seasonal foliage. Their finds were then brought together to create a wonderful autumn display, celebrating everything the season has to offer.

The display was given an extra special finishing touch thanks to the kindness of a local member of the community, who knitted a collection of adorable pumpkins for the residents. The handmade pumpkins now take pride of place among the autumn foliage and have brought plenty of smiles to the home.

Lorraine Hiller, Home Manager at St Wilfrid’s Priory, said: 

There’s something really special about celebrating the changing seasons together. Our residents thoroughly enjoyed spending time in the garden, choosing the flowers and foliage and then seeing everything come together in such a beautiful display.

We’re also incredibly grateful to the lovely local lady who knitted the pumpkins for us. Gestures like this mean so much and remind us of the wonderful connection we have with our local community. The finished display has certainly brought plenty of autumn colour and smiles to the Priory.

Celebrating the changing seasons can be a simple but meaningful way to support residents’ wellbeing. Seasonal activities encourage time outdoors, stimulate the senses and can prompt memories and conversation, while helping residents remain connected to the natural rhythm of the year.

The afternoon was filled with creativity, fresh air and plenty of autumn cheer and the finished display has brought a beautiful splash of the season inside St Wilfrid’s Priory.
