Avonbourne marks Local History Month
This Local History Month, Avonbourne Care Centre is hosting a virtual event with Time Team's Phil Harding that everyone is welcome to join.
At Avonbourne Care Centre, we are very fortunate with our location. We’re set on the outskirts of Salisbury at Old Sarum, and we can see the Iron Age fort from our home. With May being Local History Month, it is a great opportunity to learn more about this historic site.
Join us online on Tuesday 27th May at 3pm when Phil Harding from Wessex Archaeology will be talking to us about the site at Old Sarum. You might recognise Phil from Channel 4’s Time Team. He’ll also be doing a Q&A session at the end of the talk.
Local History Month aims to increase awareness of local history and to promote the history of an area in general to the community living there now. We are delighted to be able to share an online event with our residents, families, and anyone with an interest in our local history as we welcome Phil Harding to talk to us about Old Sarum. Phil works with Wessex Archaeology and many of you will recognise him from Channel 4’s Time Team programme – as a local and friend of Avonbourne, we couldn’t think of anyone better to talk to us about the history of this magical place.
Talking about local history helps us understand more about where we live and the people involved. At Avonbourne, we love to talk to our residents about their lives, reminisce with them about things they’ve done and places they’ve been, and listen to their fascinating stories.
Free tickets to the event are available on Eventbrite.
