Avonbourne Residents Join The Crowd At Salisbury FC
Salisbury hosted Eastleigh, cheered on by residents from Avonbourne Care Centre.
One of the common misconceptions about life in a care home is that people stop living their previous lives. In fact, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Football fans John and Mary have waited patiently for games to allow spectators at the grounds again, and now live sport is back, they’ve been down to the Raymond McEnhill Stadium to cheer on the Whites.
Our aim is to help each of our residents to continue to live their lives to the fullest, doing all the things they enjoy. We have crafters, bakers, gardeners amongst our residents, and there is always lots going on at the home. We also have football fans. We were delighted to be able to attend the last of the pre-season friendlies, against Eastleigh, and glad to be able to experience the atmosphere of being at the game. It was a great run out for the Salisbury players and we’re right behind them for the upcoming season as the league starts.
New signings, Harry Baker and Sioni Benham both took the time to come and chat with us and it was lovely to meet them. We wish them both well with their recoveries from the little niggling injuries they’re carrying.
Big thanks to everyone involved at Salisbury FC who made us feel so welcome, and to our activities co-ordinators, Jane Mealing and Carol Fellows, who brought it all to life.
