The Salisbury care home was transformed with handmade purple decorations for the celebration, bringing everyone together for an afternoon of food, conversation and laughter while raising awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

A huge thank you went to Chef Danny, who prepared a fantastic spread for everyone to enjoy, and to the families and friends who joined residents and helped make the celebration so special.

There was also an extra-special thank you for Shirley W, who truly embraced the purple theme. Not only did Shirley dress in purple, she handmade beautiful purple bunting and flower badges for the occasion and even dyed her hair purple!

For people living with dementia, shared experiences can provide valuable opportunities for connection, reminiscence and enjoyment. Familiar faces, food, music and conversation can help create meaningful moments while supporting wellbeing and a sense of belonging.

What a wonderful way to bring our World Alzheimer’s Month activities to a close. Seeing our residents surrounded by family, friends and colleagues, laughing, chatting and enjoying themselves together was incredibly special.
