At Isis House, we know that the little things mean the most. When resident Linda shared that her wish for her 71st birthday was to enjoy a traditional pub lunch of fish and chips, the team made sure it became a reality.

Linda was joined by her dear friend Sheila and Activities Coordinator Rachel Smith for a special trip to The King’s Arms in Sandford-upon-Thames. Despite the wet weather, the ladies dressed up for the occasion and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon together. The pub was filled with friendly faces, and they even met others celebrating birthdays on the same day, making it a truly sociable outing.
Rachel said: “It was so lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves. These moments remind us how important it is to make time for days out – they help residents feel connected and part of the wider community.”

Linda thoroughly enjoyed her meal and a pint of Guinness, saying afterwards: “What a great afternoon – the Guinness went down well, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.”
The day was full of laughter, friendship, and a sense of normal life. Linda reflected: “We had a great time with some lovely friends, and it felt so good to have a laugh together.”

At OSJCT, we pride ourselves on listening to our residents and getting to know them, as part of our person-centred care philosophy. By understanding each individual’s wishes, we create meaningful experiences that bring joy and lasting memories.

Linda’s birthday celebration was a perfect example of how a simple wish can turn into a very special day.
