A Wonderful 100th Birthday Celebration at Boultham Park House

There was cause for celebration at Boultham Park House on Saturday 27th June, as much-loved resident June marked an incredible milestone, her 100th birthday.

The team, family and fellow residents came together to celebrate a century of wonderful memories, creating a day filled with laughter, love and heartfelt surprises for one of the home's most cherished residents.

A Century of Memories

Born and raised in Wandsworth, June later moved with her family to Hounslow, where she began working as a typist. It was there that she met the love of her life, Denis.

The couple lived on the same housing estate, and June fondly remembers cycling past him every day on her way to work. After many passing glances, they finally found the confidence to speak to one another, beginning a love story that would last a lifetime.

After marrying, they moved to Lincolnshire, where Denis had family and enjoyed a successful career teaching at the local university.

A Lifetime of Cherished Moments

Having experienced a century of history, June has many treasured memories. When asked what she considers her happiest moment, her answer was immediate:

"My happiest memory is getting married to Denis; I just wish he was still here with me."

She also vividly remembers the excitement of VE Day. Just before her 18th birthday, while she was at work, the announcement came that the Second World War had ended. She and a friend immediately caught a bus into London to join the celebrations, where they saw the late Queen Elizabeth II waving to the crowds, a memory that has stayed with her throughout her life.

Surprise 100th Birthday Party and Peter Levy Message

To make the occasion truly unforgettable, the team at Boultham Park House organised a surprise 100th birthday party, complete with decorations, cake and celebrations shared with family, friends and fellow residents.

One of the highlights of the day was a special birthday message from Look North presenter Peter Levy, one of June's favourite television personalities. The thoughtful surprise brought a huge smile to her face and made the day even more memorable.

The Home Manager said:

"We wanted to make June's 100th birthday as special as she is. Seeing her reaction to the surprise celebrations and Peter Levy's birthday message was incredibly heartwarming. It was a wonderful day for everyone, and we're so proud to have shared this milestone with her."
