Boultham Park House resident Les celebrates his 100th birthday
The Mayor of Lincoln and some of the stars of the city’s football team helped Les Bilsby celebrate his 100th birthday at Boultham Park House care home.
Les, who has been a resident at The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) home in Lincoln since June 2017, was visited by a number of the Lincoln City players, who brought with them the League Two trophy they won last season.
The home also organised a Lincoln City birthday cake and a trip to a local fireworks display, making it a real day to remember for Les.
Les was born in Kent but lived in Halifax with his wife and two daughters, Lynn and Karen, for many years before moving to Lincoln 15 years ago.
He worked as a joiner and served in the British Army. In his spare time he enjoyed ballroom dancing with his wife.
Earlier this year Les was one of two Trust residents who took part in Gloria Hunniford’s ‘Food: Truth or Scare’ BBC One television programme talking about the foods they ate and whether their diets had helped them live a long life.
Jo Johnson, Home Manager of Boultham Park House, said Les was a lovely gentleman who had a great sense of humour and loved entertaining residents and the home team.
“Les is such a character who we all love to bits, so it was a real pleasure to make such a fuss of him. He had a fantastic day, he just loved all the attention and had a huge smile on his face all day long.”
