Buckland Court’s Window Display Celebrating Black History Month
Buckland Court care home in Amesbury has another impressive window display, this month supporting diversity.
October is Black History Month in the UK, a chance for all of us to recognise and celebrate diversity. Here at Buckland Court, we’ve been learning about the contributions and achievements of some key figures from our history.
The theme for this year’s Black History Month centres around what makes people proud about their culture and heritage. With so much coverage in the media around inequality and racism, the theme promotes positivity, inspired by last year’s Black Lives Matter events.
We’re reading stories at Buckland Court and sharing in the wonderful diversity we have in our country today. We’ve found we’ve learned a lot about some really fascinating people, especially those in public service, like nurse and adventurer, Mary Seacole.
We’d encourage everyone to get involved with an event this month if you can. From art exhibitions to poetry and music events, find out what is planned in your area.
