With more than 14 years of experience, Vivian Oscar brings clinical expertise and a passion for person-centred dementia care to Fremantle Court.
Fremantle Court’s Clinical Deputy Manager, Vivian, has built a career around helping people receive the care, dignity and support they deserve, progressing from cardiac nursing to a leadership role at Fremantle Court.
After graduating with a nursing degree in Punjab, India, in 2011, Vivian spent seven years working as a cardiac nurse before moving to the UK in 2018. Starting as a carer in a nursing home, Vivian progressed to Deputy Unit Manager in a dementia unit before obtaining UK nursing registration in 2020 and returning to practice as a Registered Nurse.
Joining Fremantle Court in 2021, Vivian became Clinical Lead in 2023 before progressing to Clinical Deputy Manager, bringing valuable clinical experience and a strong commitment to supporting residents and colleagues.
A career in care was a natural choice, inspired by growing up in a medical family. With several relatives working as doctors and nurses, including Vivian’s mother, the compassion and dedication shown by family members helped shape a desire to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
Today, Vivian is particularly passionate about dementia care, helping older people maintain their dignity, independence and quality of life. This commitment also extends to colleagues, with a focus on developing staff, encouraging teamwork and leading by example.
For Vivian, person-centred care means looking beyond a person’s clinical needs to understand who they are, what matters to them and how they want to live.
“Person-centred care means treating every resident as an individual, respecting their choices, preferences, values, and life experiences.”
As Clinical Deputy Manager, Vivian works to ensure residents and their families are involved in care decisions, with individual needs and preferences guiding the support provided. This includes working closely with colleagues and other healthcare professionals to review care plans and ensure residents receive safe, compassionate and effective care.
Alongside a bachelor’s degree in nursing and registration with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council, Vivian is currently working towards a Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification to further develop his leadership skills.
Looking ahead, Vivian wants Fremantle Court to be a place where residents feel truly at home, while colleagues feel valued and supported to grow in their careers.
“My goal is to ensure every resident feels valued, safe, and truly at home, while giving families confidence that their loved one is receiving the best possible care.”
With a career shaped by clinical experience, continuous development and a deep-rooted commitment to compassion, Vivian is focused on helping Fremantle Court continue to deliver care that puts residents first.
