Wing View Care Centre is rallying behind Cathy, the home’s new Client Manager, as she prepares to take on an exhilarating skydive in support of a cause close to her heart.
As part of her personal bucket list ahead of a milestone birthday, Cathy has chosen to quite literally take to the sky for what is far more than just an adrenaline-fuelled challenge. Cathy is dedicating her skydive to her mother, who is living with dementia, a journey that has given Cathy a deeply personal understanding of the condition and its impact on families.
Through both her personal experience and professional role, Cathy has seen first-hand the importance of specialist support and compassionate care. At Wing View Care Centre, part of The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT), residents and families are supported throughout their dementia journey, including access to Admiral Nurses who provide expert guidance and reassurance. In her role, Cathy works closely with families, helping to guide and support them through the often emotional process of finding the right care for their loved ones.
Cathy is particularly passionate about the work of Dementia UK, whose Admiral Nurses offer vital support to families across the country. To give back, she is using this moment to raise funds to support their continued work, helping more people access the specialist care and advice they need.
Cathy’s skydive is set to take place on Saturday 9th May , and a JustGiving page has been set up to support her fundraising efforts.
Cathy said:
“This is something I’ve always wanted to do. Seeing the impact dementia has on families and my own has been incredibly difficult, but it’s also shown me how important the right support is. Through my role, I’m able to help other families navigate that journey, and raising funds for Dementia UK feels like a way to give something back.”
The team at Wing View Care Centre is rallying behind Cathy every step of the way and will be eagerly following her journey – with video updates and highlights from her epic skydive to be shared after the big day.
This inspiring challenge reflects not only Cathy’s adventurous spirit but also her compassion and commitment to supporting those affected by dementia, both within the home and beyond.
