Celebrating Our Gloucestershire Teams at the GCPA Awards
The Gloucestershire Care Providers Association (GCPA) Awards took place at Cheltenham Racecourse on Friday 4 October, honouring the outstanding work in the care sector across the county.
It was a wonderful evening, celebrating the dedication, compassion, and hard work of so many care providers. We’re incredibly proud of the achievements of our homes and the very special people that work with us caring for our residents.
We were delighted to sponsor the Unsung Hero Award this year. For us, it was a chance to recognise publicly some of the amazing, selfless people working in the sector who do incredible things every single day. It was a highly competitive category this year with a total of 19 finalists, each representing the dedication and commitment that is crucial to providing exceptional care. Area Operations Manager, Andy Wood, presented the award on behalf of the Trust.
Individual Excellence at Windsor Street Care Centre
Windsor Street Care Centre shone bright with three fantastic finalists and one award win! Marianne Macpherson was nominated for the Carer of the Year award, highlighting her dedication and the personal touch she brings to her role. She was acknowledged for her commitment to providing exceptional care.
In an especially proud moment, Marites Ganaan was nominated for the Dementia Care Award and took away the trophy as this year’s winner. This award is a wonderful acknowledgment of Marites's commitment to enhancing the lives of residents living with dementia through her compassionate care, expertise and innovative approaches.
Beata Beevor was highly commended in the Activity in Care Award category. Her creative and person-centred approach to activities has brought so much joy to residents, providing stimulation, connection, and a sense of fulfillment for everyone living at Windsor Street, and it is good to see her recognised publicly for the work she does.
Monkscroft Care Centre: Winners of the End of Life Care Award
Another highlight of the evening was Monkscroft Care Centre winning the End of Life Care Award. This award is a tribute to the compassionate, dignified, and sensitive support that Monkscroft provides to residents and their families during the most challenging times. The team’s commitment to high-quality end-of-life care is inspiring, and we are thrilled to see their efforts recognised in this way.
Rodley House: Team of the Year Finalist
Rodley House was nominated in the Team of the Year category, a testament to the hard work and unity of our team at the home. It’s an incredible recognition of the passion, care, and teamwork demonstrated every day. We didn’t take away the trophy this time, but nevertheless, we are immensely proud to have been recognised among the best teams in the county.
Reflecting on a Night of Celebration and Inspiration
The GCPA Awards are an important event in the care calendar in Gloucestershire, as they provide a platform to celebrate the vital contributions of those working in the care sector. We are so proud of everyone who was nominated for an award, and we’re delighted for those who won. It’s a great reminder of the impact our teams have on the lives of those in our care, and we look forward to another year of continuing this essential work with renewed passion.
Congratulations to all the nominees and winners, and thank you for all that you do. You truly embody the spirit of care and make a real difference every day.
