Chestnut Court Olympic Games
Residents competed against each other in a bid to win medals for their households
Team GB have made a fantastic start to the Tokyo Olympic Games, but there are also plenty of medals being handed out closer to home at the equally prestigious Chestnut Court Olympic Games.
Over the last week, residents have represented their households in a series of competitive games looking to win a place on the podium and win points for their household in the overall medal table.
The games included: slipper throwing, bean bag toss, target shooting, and skittles.
As well as these creative games, the Chestnut Court Olympic Games included a special opening ceremony and presentations of medals and certificates.
One of the residents lucky to claim a bronze medal in the bean bag toss was Averil. She said: “I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. It was great fun and made me very happy having fun with the other residents.”
The much-coveted gold medals went to: Marie in the skittles, Geoffrey in the bean bag toss, Iris in the slipper throwing and Ron for the target shooting.
The entire programme was organised by Ruth, Leah and Leanne who are the Activities Co-ordinators at the home and responsible for providing a varied and stimulating programme of activities designed to support the wellbeing of residents.
Reflecting on the week, Ruth said: “We had great fun creating our very own Olympic Games. It was fantastic to see residents getting involved in various games and cheering each other on.”
