Chilterns Court welcomes Caroline Newton at Care Home Open Week Afternoon Tea
On Thursday 27 June, the team at Chilterns Court Care Home in Henley-on-Thames hosted a homely afternoon tea as part of Care Home Open Week.
Guests included Caroline Newton, prospective local Conservative MP, who chose to spend valuable hours in the run-up to the election with staff and residents at the home.
“Caroline listened attentively to the challenges facing our local care homes,” explains Joanna Dowejko, Home Manager at Chilterns Court. “We thought it would be a short visit, but she stayed for a good two hours. She also enjoyed some of our signature millionaire’s shortbread!”
During her visit, Newton spoke at length with the wife of a gentleman residing at Chilterns Court.  “This provided a personal-experience of what it is like to have a partner with dementia living at The Trust” says Dowejko.
Wasting no time, Chilterns Court were ready for their next event last Friday ( 5th July),  celebrating the town’s famous regatta.
“This week we have the deputy mayor joining us for a party,” adds Kate Wilson, Activities Coordinator at Chilterns Court. “We are always looking for opportunities to invite the community into our home, both members of the public and dignitaries alike. Everyone’s a VIP here, and we love being able to share our fun, spirited and stimulating living environment.”
