Throughout December, Foxby Court has been busy planning and engaging in various activities with the residents. One highlight was the Christmas fair, featuring Santa's Grotto, which proved to be a big hit with the residents and their family members.
The home also welcomed a local pantomime production of Cinderella, providing residents with an exclusive performance. Following this, each resident crafted their own wreaths to hang on their doors. The festive spirit continued with a few Christmas games before culminating in the annual Christmas party, attended by residents, staff, and family members.
As Christmas is a special time in the home, we asked the residents what Christmas means to them. Here are some of their thoughts:
Dawn:
“Christmas means everything to me. Love, joy, and happiness, especially seeing the kiddies' faces on Christmas morning.”
Betty:
“Christmas is about being with the people I love, and I also enjoy the assortment of beautiful food.”
Marjory:
“Christmas is about families and spending time with them.”
Irene:
“Christmas means family and children. As a child, my family was quite poor, so we didn’t have many toys, but we always had a lovely Christmas dinner.”
Gwen:
“I have always loved Christmas, so it means everything to me.”
James:
“Christmas means family. In my younger days, I loved the Christmas weather, the snow, and sledging. I also looked forward to seeing what was in the Christmas stocking – an apple, orange, and some kind of toy.”
