In Conversation With... Matthew Peach, Deputy Home Manager at Edwardstow Court Care Centre
Matthew shares what he loves about working at Edwardstow Court, and what inspires him
When did you start working at OSJCT and where?
I started working for the Trust in March 2018 at Edwardstow Court Care Centre in Stow-on-the-Wold in Gloucestershire.
I started as a Cook and then progressed to become the Head Chef. I was keen to develop my career, and last year I successfully secured the roles of Bursar and bank Care Leader. The Trust and General Manager at Edwardstow Court have supported me in all aspects of my development, and I am now studying my Level 5 in Leadership and Management. In April 2023 I applied for the Deputy Manager position and I was very proud when I was offered the role.
What do you love about your job at OSJCT?
I've always been interested in helping others and making a positive impact. I enjoy being an active member of my community and helping people. Each day is different and the joy I get from a simple thank you when I have helped a resident or their families makes me feel I have made a difference.
What is your favourite memory of working at OSJCT?
It’s a great team at Edwardstow Court and I am very proud of our collective achievements at the Trust's employee awards last year, the Trust Recognition Awards. Four colleagues were nominated for different awards and Edwardstow walked away with three category winners and one runner-up.
What do you enjoy doing, outside of work?
I am very busy with my family! I am the proud father of five children. I love spending time with my family, I love to visit our favourite place - Weymouth - to enjoy quality family time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
I also enjoy raising money and awareness for a charity that is close to my heart, ‘Wouldn’t Change a Thing’, which changes perceptions of children living with Down Syndrome.
