Coombe End Court residents enjoy visit to local open garden
Activities Co-ordinators Shelley and Siobhan recently arranged for seven residents from Coombe End Court in Marlborough to visit a beautiful local open garden in nearby Manton.
Siobhan explains: “We regularly organise day trips for residents’ enjoyment, and this visit to Jerry and Kate’s garden has been a great day out for all. The residents had a lovely time, enjoying coffee and biscuits, sat by the pond. Some went for a walk around to see all the different flowers and statues. It’s great to enjoy a day out together, and I love to see everyone having a good time.”
Mother and daughter duo Jerry and Kate recognise the beneficial effects of green spaces for people of all ages, and open their private garden to the public as part of the National Garden Scheme. As well as creating a relaxing environment, they provide refreshments, and all donations go to Preshute Church. Keen gardener Jerry does most of the gardening herself, with some assistance in maintaining the hedges.
On visiting Jerry and Kate's garden, Coombe End Court resident Pat commented: “I love the peace and quiet and the sound of the breeze going through the trees.”
Val, another resident at Coombe End Court, added: “The garden is beautiful. A lot of hard work has been done to keep it as nice as it is.”
