Edwardstow Court couple celebrate 64 years of marriage
Howard and Betty have been married for 64 wonderful years and Edwardstow Court ensured they had a day full of celebration.
To mark the momentous occasion the team at Edwardstow Court decorated the home for Howard and Betty and set up a private dining table, completed with balloons and decorations. The kitchen team delivered a fabulous afternoon tea for the couple and even made them a celebration cake.
The couple who are now in their eighties were married in 1957 and went on to have two children, and four grandchildren.
Howard and Betty have lived at Edwardstow Court since January 2021, they chose Edwardstow Court for its friendly community environment and Howard, insisted that he didn’t want to be separated from Betty. The home has been delighted to welcome the couple and have set Howard and Betty up with a shared room and another room as a private living space where they can watch TV and read.
They met at Chipping Campden Grammar School after Howard made the first move to approach Betty with some encouragement from his friends. They spent many happy years bringing up a family and living at their family dairy farm in Aston Subedge. Betty worked for five years as a bank cashier and Howard joined the farm permanently after two years of national service.
When asked for the secret to their long and happy relationship, Betty said: “It takes give and take and a bit of compromise.” Howard said: “Don’t push your luck too much, especially if you’re the man!”
