Edwardstow Court take their residents on a virtual cruise
Residents from Edwardstow Court Care Centre in Stow-on-the-Wold went on a virtual cruise, starting on the other side of the world in Australia and disembarking at several points of interest on their return voyage.
Residents donned their sailor’s outfits before setting sail to their first destination of Australia. They docked in Sydney Harbour, they watched a virtual tour of the harbour and the City on the TV, enjoyed a themed menu and even a can of Fosters!
Residents then set sail to Ireland where residents enjoyed a traditional meal consisting of an Irish fry up for breakfast and for lunch they enjoyed, parsnip and potato gratin, boxty with salad and a Baileys pot - yum!
Shirley, a resident at Edwardstow Court said, “Our Tuesday cruise stop was the best day I’ve had in a long time. I thoroughly enjoyed the activities, the decorations and especially the food!”
Edwardstow Court then set sail for Italy where they enjoyed a day of all things Italian. The residents particularly enjoyed their trip to Italy, especially the delicious food. There were lots of quizzes and discussions about the landmarks and cities people had visited over the years.
On Thursday residents headed to Spain, and although they might not currently be basking in Spanish sunshine, they had lots of fun! Residents made Sangria and enjoyed traditional songs and dances, plus taking part in a Spanish quiz and some art too. Our residents especially enjoyed learning the Macarena dance! Their resident mascot bear, Edward, even enjoyed wearing a sombrero!
Their voyage was rounded off by docking in France where residents made some cocktails and visited the Eiffel Tower. Residents also enjoyed a cocktail making class and their favourite was a ‘Dark and Stormy’ rum cocktail.
Shirley said, “We had a very busy week on the cruise, but I was happy to dock in England so I can see my family and have fish and chips.”
