Edwardstow Court welcomed local representatives and community members for the launch of the Dementia and Dementia Carer Support Handbook for the North Cotswolds, as part of the Age Friendly Cotswolds initiative.
The event brought people together to raise awareness, share knowledge and improve understanding of the support available to people living with dementia, their families and carers across the local area.
Karen Saffarian, Age Friendly Champion for Cotswold Friends, organised the event, helping to connect those committed to making the North Cotswolds a more inclusive and supportive place to live.
Guests included Cllr Alison Tighe, Stow Town Council’s Age Friendly Ambassador, and Cllr Daryl Corps, County Councillor for Moreton, Stow & The Rissingtons and Cotswold District Councillor for Moreton-in-Marsh.
The launch highlighted the importance of accessible information and strong local connections. Bringing resources together in a handbook can help individuals and families find support, while encouraging greater understanding of the experiences of people living with dementia and those who care for them.
Home Manager Matthew Peach shared:
We were delighted to welcome everyone to Edwardstow Court for this important launch. Finding the right information and knowing where to turn for support can make a real difference to people living with dementia and their families.
Care homes are part of the wider community, and we have an important role in bringing people together, sharing knowledge and building understanding. Thank you to Karen and everyone involved for helping us work towards a more inclusive and dementia-friendly North Cotswolds.
For Edwardstow Court, welcoming community initiatives like this helps strengthen relationships beyond the home and creates opportunities to share knowledge. These connections support a community where people feel understood, included and able to seek help.
The team extended their thanks to Karen and everyone who attended or contributed to the launch, supporting a shared commitment to building a more age-friendly and dementia-friendly North Cotswolds.
