Edwardstow Court wins prize worth £500
Edwardstow Court Care Centre, in Stow on the Wold, wins £500 worth of eating and drinking solutions after winning a prize draw at the Care Show 2021.
Ornamin, a family run company based in Minden in Germany that supplied the prize, produces innovative eating and drinking aids with hidden features in the design to enable independent eating and drinking. All Ornamin products are made from high quality sustainable plastic that is environmentally friendly, fully recyclable and 100% bpa free.
Edwardstow Court chose a mixture of products including specialist cups and plates and silicone spoon guards. Residents have been trying out the new products and have been noticing a difference already.
Liz, a resident who is living with Multiple Sclerosis, says “The colour is good as blue stands out. I like how tight the lids fit and how discreet the lids are. The deep rim on the plates helps to get the food on the fork without it falling onto the table”.
The products range from helping to keep residents’ food warm to supporting those who don’t have a steady hand, to products which enable residents to maintain their dignity.
Matt Peach, Head Chef at Edwardstow Court said, “It’s great to have this new equipment, it’s an opportunity for us to see which eating aids work best for our residents as we are always looking at ways that residents can maintain their independence”.
Sue Hewlett from Ornamin said “Ornamin are delighted to be able to present the items to Edwardstow Court so that they can support the residents and carers in making their lives a little easier. We look forward to seeing Ornamin’s product being used”.
