Employee Awards celebrate dedication, inspiration and loyalty
Teams at 65 care homes, 14 extra care housing schemes and 3 offices, came together for local celebrations and a Trust-wide online Award Ceremony to recognise individual achievements and the dedication of those working in the care sector. The ceremonies took place on 29 September and involved many of the Trust’s 4,800 strong workforce, who are employed across six counties where its care services operate, as well as residents.
The Employee Awards, which have taken place for more than 20 years, are given out to winners of Shining Star and Hidden Hero categories, to employees with over 20 years of long service and to those who achieved qualifications in the last year. A select number of employees who received a Chairman's Commendations Award for Meritorious Service were also honoured at the events.
CEO Dan Hayes, who joined the Trust over 16 years ago, received a Certificate for Outstanding Achievement by the Trust in recognition of his expert and compassionate leadership during the pandemic.
Chair of Trustees, Mark Everall thanked Dan for his service to the Trust and said: “The pandemic impacted us all, but Dan never wavered, and he showed unconditional support to all those that approached him. Dan’s strong leadership has earned much deserved respect and admiration across the Trust.”
This year, the Ferrers Innovation Award was introduced, sponsored by the charity’s patron Robert Ferrers and which recognised ideas brought forward by three individuals who drove the implementation of new processes and ways of working.
Dan, who spoke at the online ceremony to praise all the winners, said: “Congratulations to all our winners, whether they have been recognised for their professionalism or for their long service or qualifications. These awards take place so that the Trust can show our gratitude to colleagues who together provide an essential service to our communities. And this year more than any other our gratitude will be echoed by a whole nation who now appreciate what they do and stand in unanimous appreciation for their bravery and commitment. This moment is a good one to reflect on where we might be without the tremendous social care workers that we are recognising today.”
