Foxby Court Refurbishments
In October 2024 we were given the exciting news that we would be having a refurb in some areas of the home. The project began in November, this was very long overdue, and we all got very excited about what was to come.
We held a meeting with residents about one of our rooms and what we could do to make it look nice. This room had once been our visitor Pod during COVID-19.
During the residents meeting we asked what the residents would like, and it was a unanimous vote on that they would like a cinema room, so everyone could go and watch a good film with a cuppa and snacks. So that’s what we asked for and what a room it is.
When choosing the colours and soft furnishings, the residents have remained at the heart of all decisions to ensure they continue to feel at home whilst enjoying the changes made. From colours to artwork to soft furnishings to any ideas they have, the residents have remained at the forefront.
Una, one of our residents, has a favourite piece, which is of course the Donkeys on Elm tree household.
Brenda, commented on how proud she was to Live at Foxby Court whilst admiring the handrails and the colours on the wall.
Kay said it looks fresh and inviting, and loves the artwork on Apple trees.
Visitors alike have all commented on how lovely it all looks, with one visitor, Sue, even wanting to claim a few chairs for her own Home.
We have taken residents around the home to view the new paintings and décor and asked their opinions on the finished product, they were all amazed on how lovely it all looks.
The soft furnishings really make the home look exciting and welcoming to all who visit.
The new carpets throughout have made the home look refreshed and modern, resident Una says it's like walking in a field of lavender.
The residents have had many walks around the home admiring the works that have taken place with lots to talk about with all the new findings. The handrails give the home a nice clean feel and an airier space to walk along for the residents.
The new cinema room now enables residents to watch a good film in a luxury and comfortable space with surround sound and a large screen to give everyone that cinema feel that we all love.
Resident Barrie has said how good everything looks and even had a whirl in the new cinema room, saying you can kick back and enjoy a decent film.
Families have made comments about how the home is looking and say they are impressed with all the changes and that it's a conversation starter from entering the home as our entrance foyer has taken on a whole new look and is now light and airy and is very welcoming to all.
The Mayor of Gainsborough and our resident Una has now officially open Foxby Court's new cinema room, and commented on how nice the new refurbishments look and that it's "always a delight to come and visit Foxby Court as I have had a close relationship with the home for 37 year now. In that time, I have seen the home evolve to be able to continue to support their residents need’s. It has been a privilege to be able to help the residents of Foxby court and open the brand-new cinema room, and I look forward to supporting Foxby court in its future endeavours."
We have watched the transformation take shape over the past few months, and we are very proud to be part of the Orders of St John's Trust here at Foxby Court, our Home.
