Free day care offer for over 65s at Townsend House
Activities Co-ordinator Jacqueline Smith playing Bingo with residents at Townsend House.
Day care is available at Townsend House every weekday, 10am – 4pm. Everyone who attends will be able to enjoy a full day of activities and entertainment as well as a hot lunch and refreshments.
Day care helps to tackle loneliness and offers a chance for family carers to have some free time while their loved one enjoys time in a safe and sociable space. Regular attendees also benefit by making new friends at this friendly home.
During the Taster Week (5 – 9 August) newcomers can try out a day of free care (usual price £40 per day, sometimes subsidised by the Local Authority), subject to a short care assessment. The care home runs activities every morning and afternoon, such as quizzes, game challenges, baking and bingo. During the Taster Week, featured entertainment will include Saxophone by Alan and Music and Movies sessions.
Jacqueline Smith, Activities Co-ordinator, said: “We are excited to welcome new participants to our newly launched day care service at Townsend House. Day care provides a wonderful opportunity for people to connect, form friendships, explore new hobbies, and create lasting memories.
“We encourage local over 65-year-old residents to come and try out the service with a complimentary place during our Taster Week, 5 – 9 August.”
