Fremantle Court celebrates Burns Night in true Scottish style
Keeping traditions alive is an important part of life at Fremantle Court, and this year’s Burns Night celebration was a perfect example.
As the sound of bagpipes echoed through Fremantle Court, residents, families, and staff came together to enjoy a celebration rooted in Scottish heritage. The home was filled with conversation, laughter, and the kind of shared moments that make a place feel like home.
The highlight of the evening came from Andy, a member of the team and proud Scotsman, who stepped forward to lead the celebration. Wearing traditional Scottish dress, Andy delivered the “Address to a Haggis” with warmth and good humour. It was clearly a proud moment for him to share a tradition close to his heart, and his performance was met with smiles, applause, and nods of recognition from residents who knew the words by heart.

For many residents, the familiar sounds and traditions brought back memories of past Burns Night celebrations: shared meals, poetry readings, and evenings spent with family. Keeping these traditions alive helps residents feel grounded, valued, and connected to their own histories.
The traditional haggis, served with neeps, was enjoyed by all, but it was the atmosphere that mattered most. Residents chatted, families joined in, and staff took part alongside them, reflecting Fremantle Court’s commitment to celebrating culture, heritage, and diversity helps strengthen relationships and enrich daily life.
Home Manager, Deepthi Jose shared:
“You were brilliant, Andy. Thank you for doing this for the home. The residents, families, and staff really enjoyed it. Well done.”
