Fremantle Court home manager swapped her office for care duties as part of a five-day Carers Week initiative recognising the dedication and compassion of carers supporting residents every day.
Residents, families and colleagues at Fremantle Court in Stoke Mandeville, came together throughout Carers Week to celebrate the vital role carers play in the lives of residents. The week-long programme included a special ‘Carer of the Day’ initiative, with carers recognised for their hard work and presented with gifts and messages of appreciation from residents, colleagues and family members.
As part of the celebrations, Home Manager Deepthi Jose steps back into a carer role working alongside the care team, gaining first-hand insight into the daily challenges and rewards experienced by colleagues.
Deepthi Jose, Home Manager at Fremantle Court, said:
“Our carers do an incredible job every day, showing kindness, patience and dedication in everything they do. Working alongside my team gave me an even greater appreciation for the compassion, skill and commitment they bring to supporting our residents and their families. Carers Week was a wonderful opportunity to recognise and thank them for everything they do.”
To end the week, the team gathered for a mocktail celebration, which provided an opportunity to come together, reflect on the week and recognise the difference carers make to the lives of residents each day.
Bridget, a Care Team Member at Fremantle Court, said:
“It was such a lovely surprise to be recognised during Carers Week. Knowing that residents, families and colleagues appreciate what I do means so much. Caring is about building relationships and helping people feel safe, happy and supported, so it was really special to celebrate together.”
Carers Week is an annual campaign dedicated to recognising the contribution of unpaid and professional carers across the UK, raising awareness of the challenges they face and celebrating the difference they make.
