Giant inflatable bird visits Athelstan House for Children in Need
Residents at Athelstan House in Malmesbury enjoyed a visit from Pudsey and a giant inflatable Great Bustard bird as part of Children in Need celebrations.
A team from BBC Wiltshire stopped off at The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) home as part of their Stuff the Bustard fundraising campaign to pull the ‘bird’ 50 miles around the county in five days.
The inflatable bird was squeezed into the home’s reception area where Day Centre Carer Jaye stuffed it with donations from residents, their relatives and visitors.
Residents enjoyed a tea party and taking part in Pudsey-themed craft activities before they got to meet Pudsey himself. Volunteer Issy had made a fantastic Children in Need cake and employees at the home wore Pudsey headbands for the occasion.
BBC Wiltshire's Breakfast Show presenter Ben Prater interviewed residents Rose, Muriel and Barb, as well as the home’s Head of Care, Lucy Ponting, in a clip broadcast during the afternoon show.
Lucy said: “The whole visit has been absolutely amazing, residents have had such a lovely time.”
